When you think of Hollywood icons, what is the first thing that pops into your head? If you are being honest with yourself, you will probably think about all that glam that comes along with being a celeb. You will want to live the richest lifestyle like your favorite celebs seem to do, and you want to be able to hop on the nearest jet to take you to the French Riviera, or some enchanted island in the Caribbean.
Believe it or not, you may just be happier right where you are now. Being in the spotlight 24/7 isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be. Why not look at the other side of the fence where the grass might not be so green after all? Make the most of your life where you are now, rather than yearning after something which probably isn’t real.
All Celebrities Are Not as Rich as You Think They Are
Most people think that Hollywood celebrities are all as rich as they are famous. This isn’t actually the case. Some stars got their start way back in the 50s and are still going strong today. While you would think that anyone who starred, or guest starred, in long running television series back in the day would have grown an enormous amount of wealth, just look at stars like Darby Hinton whose list of television and movie credits is longer than this page. At the moment, his estimated net worth is somewhere around $500,000 and that is just about what one of today’s actors make for a simple cameo in a major motion picture.
Life in the Spotlight Isn’t Always Sunny
Then there are stars who you think had it all. These icons seemed to lead a rich life filled with family and friends; stars whose net worth rivaled some of the wealthiest financiers in the country. That would be Robin Williams if you didn’t know any better. That would also be stars like Kurt Kobain or famous authors like Ernest Hemingway. While there was a dark side to Hemingway which could have foretold a macabre end to his life, no one would ever have imagined that Robin Williams, Mr. Funny Man himself, was that depressed. He had it all, after all, didn’t he? The public never saw him without that silly grin on his face and no one knew the depths of his depression.
Next time you look at that glamorous celeb and think to yourself that you’d like to climb the fence to the other side where the grass is greener, remember, it isn’t always as green as you think. Instead of yearning to be somewhere or something you’re not, try living in the moment. Look around you at what you have and be thankful that your family and friends are there with you. You may not have the best job in the world, but you can strive to grow in your profession – or change careers altogether. Live for today and grow for tomorrow, but don’t envy others you know little about. They may be as envious of you as you are of them.
