Space Jam 2 A Wrap, To Be Released In Two Months

There was big news in the genres of film, animation and basketball superstardom on the weekend. Word was sent out by the film’s lead animators that production on Space Jam 2 was a wrap. It’s slated for a July 16th, 2021 release, 25 years after the initial Space Jam hit theaters.

In 1996, Warner Brothers Feature Animation released its first film. Space Jam was a live-action/animated sports comedy movie that combined the talents of basketball legend Michael Jordan and cartoon icon Bugs Bunny, along with the whole Warner Brothers gang of Looney Tunes on screen.

In the original Space Jam, Jordan and the Looney Tunes joined forces on the Tune Squad to take on the alien Monstars in a game of basketball. In the sequel, Space Jam: A New Legacy, it’s LeBron James who joins up with the Looney Tunes to tangle with the opposition villains. And you can bet on it. Several online betting sites are offering prop wagering on outcomes that will take place during the course of the film.

Besides James, other basketball stars slated to make cameo appearances include NBA players Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Chris Paul and Kyle Kuzma, along with WNBA players Diana Taurasi, Nneka Ogwumike and Chiney Ogwumike. Bugs will be joined by Daffy Duck, Lola Bunny and all the Looney Tunes regulars, with cameo roles expected to be slotted to characters from other Warner Brothers animated shows like Animaniacs and Pinky And The Brain.

Will LeBron Score More Points Than Michael Jordan?

If you’ve forgotten the plot, or didn’t see the original Space Jam, the Monstars gained their basketball prowess by stealing the talents of then-NBA stars Charles Barkley, Shawn Bradley, Patrick Ewing, Larry Johnson and Muggsy Bogues.

Jordan makes a bet with the Monstars that if they win the game, he will return to their planet and become the feature attraction of their theme park Moron Mountain. However, if the Tune Squad wins the game, the Monstars must restore the skills they stole to the NBA players they robbed.

If you weren’t keeping score at home, Jordan poured in 44 points, including the game-winning dunk, in the Tune Squad’s 1996 win over the Monstars. Among the props on offer for Space Jam: A New Legacy, is whether James will score more points in this film than Jordan netted in the original. Yes is favored at -300. No comes with odds of +200.

How Many Points Will Bugs Bunny Score?

Over the years, Bugs Bunny has excelled on the baseball diamond, the football gridiron, the soccer pitch and the golf links. Basketball was just another realm for him to conquer.

Bugs was Jordan’s right-hand man in the original and will certainly fill that role alongside James. Oddsmakers have set 12 points as the total that Bugs will score during the Space Jam 2 game. You’ll get -120 odds whether you play the over or the under.

How Many Points Will Daffy Duck Score?

So often Bugs Bunny’s on-screen foil, it was something to see Bugs and Daffy team up in Space Jam. Daffy’s secondary scoring could prove vital in the sequel.

He’s been assigned a total of six points. Over is worth +200, while the under is favored at -160.

How Many Points Will Lola Bunny Score?

Lola Bunny made her film debut in Space Jam and is generally portrayed as Bugs Bunny’s love interest.

Her point total for the sequel is established at eight. Over is the chalk at -140. The under gets odds of -200.

Will Bill Murray Appear In Space Jam: A New Legacy?

One of the highlights of the original Space Jam was when Bill Murray appears to join the Tune Squad, only to proclaim in the huddle that he doesn’t play defense. Odds are a surprising +800 that he will appear in the sequel and -2000 that he won’t.

Murray’s cameos are the stuff of Hollywood legend. A new Space Jam without Bill would be like a day without sunshine.

Will Michael Jordan Appear In Space Jam: A New Legacy?

Space Jam: A New Legacy has been in the works since 2014, when it was revealed to the public that James would fill Jordan’s starring role in the sequel. It was the natural choice to make.

Like Jordan, James isn’t merely a superstar of the basketball court. King James is a worldwide phenomenon, a pop culture sensation whose popularity and renown far exceeds what he’s achieved on the hardwood.

Will the two Space Jam stars join forces in the sequel? Oddsmakers say no. The betting line is +700 Jordan appears in the film and +2500 that he won’t.
