Your body is your temple – your connection with the outside world. You only have one, and it is yours to keep. So when you don’t feel happy or comfortable with it, it can be a lot to deal with. In order to move forwards, you need to find a way to get rid of that uncomfortable or unhappy feeling, and make peace with yourself. But that won’t happen all on its own. It is down to you to take action on this issue – no one else can do it for you. Here are three ways that you can deal with your feelings going forward.
Make a Change
Your body may be the only one you get, but it doesn’t have to look the way it does forever. You can get a procedure done to enhance some part of it – you might have a breast augmentation if you think that yours are too small, for example. You can go to the gym if you think that you are overweight. You can dye your hair or cut it differently, or you can go and get a fake tan if you feel too pale. You can even take a course in doing your make-up if you want to look prettier. It’s all down to making a change.
Sometimes when we don’t feel comfortable with our bodies, it’s actually not our bodies that are the problem but our minds. This is called body dysmorphia, and it happens when you see your body in a different light to everyone else. So how do you deal with it? It’s all in the mind, so a bit of psychology really helps. You can get therapy if you feel that your case is a severe one, or use positive mantras to remind yourself to love your body. If there are people around you who tell you that you are beautiful, ask them what they like about your body. You may be surprised what they tell you – and it may help you to look at yourself in a different way.
If you aren’t willing to help yourself by taking at least one of the ideas above, then unfortunately there is not much that anyone else can do for you. This is all about you and your relationship with yourself, so if you want to see a change, you have to make it happen. If you won’t take that first step, then you need to stop complaining – because you are letting this situation continue wilfully even when you could easily stop it. Make no mistake, if you feel bad about your body but don’t take action, then it is your own fault if you continue to feel bad.
The harsh truth is that a lot of people like to complain about their bodies, and even feel miserable about them, but they are not ready to make that change and actually improve the way they look or feel. If you are in that boat, then it’s time to get yourself motivated and do something about it.
