Cut being a perfectionist out of your life before it becomes a part of you. Be willing to put yourself out there and be a little vulnerable.

I recently did an interview with S.P. Magna an upcoming songwriter, singer and rapper. He’s an all around artist with a focus on Hip-Hop. S.P. Magna will launch his first EP and a couple of albums soon. He makes positive and uplifting music but also doesn’t shy away from very dark and heavy subjects. His own experiences inspire his writings and music occasionally. Music that opens your mind, makes you think, and encourages curiosity and discussion. Read the interview to find out more about his passion and tips to break into the industry.

Tell us about yourself and what you do?
I’m another small town starving artist who likes to read and write to pass the time at night.
I’m S.P. Magna from the Quad Cities IL/IA and I’m a rapper and singer-songwriter. I make a point to focus on lyricism above all else.

Who has inspired you in your life and why?
Logic and NF, I’ve never felt my feelings put into words quite like happens when I listen to them.

What is your greatest achievement so far?
Not giving up when my passion seemed to take everything and give nothing in return. Like time dances across infinity, I just keep moving forward.

Do you have any tips for our readers that are trying to break in the industry?
Cut being a perfectionist out of your life before it becomes a part of you. Be willing to put yourself out there and be a little vulnerable, be willing to fail and have haters, and learn to count on no one and nothing but yourself.

What should we expect from you?
Short term, I want to get some music out as soon as I can afford to do the songs right. Expect to see a couple EPs released and maybe an album or two, as well as a lot of growth and progression in my abilities over the years as they mature parallel to myself. Long term your kids will look up to me and your grandchildren will watch documentaries about me. I strive to one day be the best that ever lived.
