Interview with rap artist and producer Filey

People always told me, “it’s all about who you know.” in which I always politely reply, “it’s all about becoming The Person to know”

Tell us about yourself and what you do
My name is Alexandros Pantazis, but most know me as Filey. Born, first generation Greek-American, and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, I am a independent rap artist/singer/audio engineer/producer & aspiring musical virtuous. I work 3 different jobs, all which fund my music career.

Who has inspired you in your life and why?
My father is my greatest inspiration, even though he’s been the toughest person to connect too. But you have to understand, my father was born on 03/03/1935 on an island called Ebbioa in Greece, so it’s hard for him to understand the impact I’m trying to create.

What is your greatest achievement so far?
My greatest achievement would have to be packing out Repiblic New Orleans to capacity (2000 people) with my brother Niko and our team of DJs, every Saturday for 156 consecutive weeks.

Do you have any tips for our readers that are trying to break in the industry?
Lastly, in my opinion don’t worry about breaking into the industry. Instead just keep working on your craft, stay hungry, commit full time to learning and searching on techniques to master your art. The rest will come. People always told me, “it’s all about who you know.” in which I always politely reply, “it’s all about becoming The Person to know”
