The more you work, the more you learn, the more you grow, the more you succeed.
Tell us about yourself and what you do
I am an educator, humanitarian, podcaster, author and best of all, mother. I teach business at Navajo Technical University, where I also serve at the Department Chair. I enjoy working with students to help them on the path to achieving their goals. My two boys are absolutely amazing and keep me on my toes. I am the Project Manager for The Department of Transportation Grant where we provide summer dual-credit courses to high school students. I have dabbled a bit into podcasting, producing a few podcasting shows. I just released my first book entitled, “How to Ace a Job Interview: A Simple Guide to Landing Any Interview”. I am the Founder and CEO of a Nonprofit Organization called AfrikRising. We assist the poor and oppressed in Africa, one of the poorest continents in the world. Service is one of my favorite things to do. It brings me so much happiness and joy to put smiles on others’ faces.
Who has inspired you in your life and why?
There are several people who have inspired me in my life. I look back on my coaches, those who motivated and inspired me to reach my potential. My children inspire me. They really have motivated me to be the best person I can be. Tom Davis has made a great impact on my life. Some people lead for power, and usually that type of leadership doesn’t bode well with me, but not Tom Davis. He leads to empower others. He leads to build others up and help them reach their full potential. He has accomplished so much in his life, yet remains so humble. He has been a great mentor throughout the years, something I will always be grateful for.
What is your greatest achievement so far?
Probably my greatest achievements has been my children. No success can replace being a mother. My boys bring great joy to my life. Being a mother really changes you and helps you to see and approach life differently. It truly has been the greatest blessing.
Do you have any tips for our readers that are trying to break in the industry?
Don’t let anyone else hold you back. Work hard and when you feel like you’ve worked hard enough, work some more. Most people go to work then go home, and try to do the bare minimum. Surpass them. The more you work, the more you learn, the more you grow, the more you succeed. You won’t accomplish much by not pushing yourself. Push yourself everyday to become the best you can be.
