Interview with photographer Keri Ann Moore

Being given the opportunity to showcase my work as part of the upcoming RAW: Ovation Ottawa event is such an achievement for me.

I had the privilege to interview Keri Ann Moore a talented photographer who will be part of RAW Ottawa OVATION showcase Friday, November 2nd. This event will be held at Saint Brigid’s Centre for the arts: www.rawartists.org/ottawa/ovation. Since relocating to Ottawa in 2013, Keri Ann Moore has taken her love for all artistic pursuits and used that as the platform to focus on taking photographs that focus on finding the beauty in all that surrounds us. Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do
Artistic pursuits have always been an interest of mine whether it be photography or music or fine art. As a photographer, I am passionately intrigued by finding beauty in not just the obvious places like a colourful sunset but in places that we might not expect so much. Society moves around us very quickly in today’s world so as an artist, I enjoy finding the lost beauty in something that has been forgotten and sharing it with the world through my photographs.

Who has inspired you in your life and why?
I am inspired by my family on a very regular basis. I was fortunate to grow up in a home with fantastic parents that taught me about cherishing the people and places that surround us and I definitely draw on that in my art. Not every day can be perfect or sunny all of the time, but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t appreciate what is around us.

What is your greatest achievement so far?
Being given the opportunity to showcase my work as part of the upcoming RAW: Ovation Ottawa event is such an achievement for me. Photography is a true catharsis for me so having the opportunity to share that piece with other is fantastic.

Do you have any tips for our readers that are trying to break in the industry?
Talk to other artists and creative individuals. Asking questions and drawing from the experience’s of others – and then pairing that with my own thoughts and feelings on a subject has been very helpful to me.

What do you have planned for the upcoming RAW Ottawa OVATION showcase Friday, November 2nd at Saint Brigid’s Centre for the arts?
I am so excited for the upcoming show at Saint Brigid’s! I am planning a display of photographs that I am hoping will give everyone a better idea of my vision and how I see the world when looking through the lens of my camera.
