Interview with Omar Kadir

I think people are more in love about the hyped up lifestyle of a music artist more than the music itself. When they see how much work it takes to just make a living in the industry they back down.

Tell us about your music
My music sounds like the Incredible Hulk having sex. At times it will get your heart pounding and other times it’s smooth enough to listen to when you just want to chill or even make love to. I just released my latest single called “Pass Thru”. You can listen to it on my Soundcloud (soundcloud.com/omarkadir) and find it on all major online retailers; i.e. iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, etc.

What do you like most about your profession?
The freedom to live out my passion every day. I wake up every morning with music on my mind and go to sleep with music as my last thought.

What’s your favorite album from another artist?
I’d have to say Michael Jackson’s Thriller album. That one is a classic. He’s a huge influence on me as an overall music artist. From music to dance, he’s played a big role.

What song of yours are you most proud of?
I’m happy with all my works, but it would have to be my last single called “Roll For Me” from my EP that I released last year. My business partner and producer, megamike, and I spent a lot of time on the production of it. It still has that chill sound that I love so much and shows a lot of growth throughout my years.

What is the formula for success in the music industry?
Consistency, motivation, and strategy. I’ve seen a lot of artists who talk about being the next big thing, but there’s no follow through. Instead of working they’re sitting around complaining about how things aren’t working out for them. I think people are more in love about the hyped up lifestyle of a music artist more than the music itself. When they see how much work it takes to just make a living in the industry they back down. They can’t keep themselves motivated through the tough times.
