I want women to get compliments every time they wear Neon Beige
I had the privilege to interview the founders of Neon Beige a cheeky athletic wear brand. They are based in Southern California. They stand out when it comes to quality. Every piece of garment is made in LA and the look and feel of the brand has a personal touch thanks to the fact that you can wear Neon Beige even outside the gym. Why wear boring athletic wear if you can wear something that makes you feel confident and feminine. I love how sexy the brand is it makes you motivated to work out! What inspired you to start your brand?
I was working in catalogue and fit modeling and noticed a pattern of shortcuts common in the lifestyle apparel industry. Apparel is generally a male dominated industry, and while it’s common to cut corners to save money, as a woman, I know how important it is look and feel good in what I’m wearing. It struck me that women; willing to spend an entire paycheck on an outfit for a single event, will often settle for mediocrity in the quality, fit and style of the garments that they wear on the day to day. I wanted to provide my customer with the option of wearing flattering everyday clothing with the same attention to detail that is normally reserved for more formal clothes. Realistically, I know we don’t have the time for tedious wardrobe changes; so my line also needed to be versatile enough to take her effortlessly from the gym to the grocery store, the café… and wherever else life takes her.

What is the Philosophy behind Neon Beige?
The mission of Neon Beige is to create apparel that makes women look and feel put together and sexy in their everyday lives regardless of their personal body goals; to create clothes with a sense of whimsy and fun that embraces where they are now. The message is “you’re perfect how you are and if you want to workout, that’s great, but if you want to go to Starbucks… save me a caramel latte!”
What has been your greatest achievement so far?
Manufacturing has been a very long process and I’ve been very particular regarding the fit of every item in the line. I only want to design clothing that is going to be a staple go-to piece in a woman’s wardrobe. I want women to get compliments every time they wear Neon Beige; and that completely drove everyone mad, revising each item again and again until I was completely satisfied.
My greatest achievement came when I saw the samples from my third revision. I completely started bawling. Suddenly the hard work and persistence was all worth it! I was completely mortified, until I looked over at the production manager Alina; who had been helping throughout the manufacturing process, and to my surprise, she was crying too! That was the first time I realized that I had created something truly different and special. That moment gave me the confidence to trust my instinct, the attention to detail is what sets Neon Beige apart!
