Interview with Gospel artist Latoya Pruitt

My greatest achievements so far is having the opportunity to be nominated for the “Best New Female Vocalist” for the Independent Music Awards in New York.

What inspired you to become a Gospel artist?
At the age of 5, I started singing and Pattie LaBelle was the first singer I tried to imitate. I loved the tone of her voice and her fluctuations. As time went on, I found myself singing in choirs from Elementary through college. College is where I started singing gospel. I was a part of the Baptist Student Movement and we would travel to different places to sing. Gospel music is liberating and just frees you from whatever obstacles you face.

What is your brand’s philosophy?
My philosophy is that of reaching people at whatever point they’re at in life, through my music. My brand is geared more for the youth of this day and time. There are so many hurting and unmotivated young adults with no hope or passion about life that I want to uplift, empower, and be a mouthpiece for Jesus in a unique and cool way.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?
My greatest achievements so far is having the opportunity to be nominated for the “Best New Female Vocalist” for the Independent Music Awards in New York and being in the top 10 Gospel artist in Houston, TX. These achievements have been very exhilarating.
