Carl Edouard

This business is a connection business, music represent only a little part of success. The best tips that I could give to you is to move and meet many people who work in this business. Try to speak with labels, artists, managers.

Tell us about yourself and what you do
I’m Carl Edouard (Real name : Charles Balembois) I’m French DJ and music producer.

I worked with international artists and recorded many songs. I also performed in several big clubs in Europe (France, Denmark, Belgium.. etc.) and collaborated with many brands. Most recently I worked with “Mercedes-Benz” and I was a finalist in the 2012 BPM Contest.

I started to make music at 7 years old. I learned piano and I discover DJing  and electronic music. There is a huge revelation for me. When I heard this new club music I said “I want to do this”.

Who has inspired you in your life and why?
Many things and many people inspire me in my life. From DJ Snake  to Serge Gainsbourg , I love discover new work and I think these people have bring something new to the music.

What is your greatest achievement so far?
I have the feeling that my greatest achievement is to give people emotions  and energie with my songs. When you create a new things what is more cool than to see people happy ?

Do you have any tips for our readers that are trying to break in the industry?
I see everyday more and more young people who wants to break in the industry. It’s a good thing but too many are naive about this business. “This business is a connection business, music represent only a little part of success.” The best tips that I could give to you is to move and meet many people who work in this business. Try to speak with labels, artists, managers.

Sometimes it takes a long time to become aware of the reality. Don’t forget you can’t create success alone. I heard so much bad songs on the radio, how can they play that? They are not good artists? But they are good in management.
