Amsterdam is in the top 20 tech startup cities worldwide, in addition the Netherlands have always been very entrepreneurial, which reflects the almost 20K companies being started in the Netherlands each year.

The GROW platform will be the gateway to technology progress in the Netherlands. The shortage of local developers in relation to the number of companies starting each year and the low number of graduating software engineers, is hampering technology growth in the Netherlands. GROW connects software development talent to job opportunities without interference of costly recruitment agencies. Read the interview with founder David Dwinger to find out more.

How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I experienced the issues with outsourcing for the first time some years ago, when I was looking for a development partner. It was and still is virtually impossible to find good companies in an easy way. Google surely isn’t helping much, as it provides no quality control. So I spend a lot of time browsing, talking and wasting time of loads of companies.

In the end, I wound up working with a Dutch company which wasn’t really what i was looking for, with regards to the best solution.

Amsterdam is in the top 20 tech startup cities worldwide, in addition the Netherlands have always been very entrepreneurial, which reflects the almost 20K companies being started in the Netherlands each year.

Currently there are over 10k open development positions in the Netherlands, a rapidly growing number.

The downside for technology requiring startups is that they need developers or outsourcing partners. Finding your own developer in in the Netherlands is currently almost impossible.

Outsourcing is the only real option, but how do you find validated, tested partners, who have a proven ability to deliver quality.

What is your mission?
Ensuring Dutch companies regardless of size can pursue their business dreams, using development partners who deliver guaranteed quality. What has been your greatest achievement so far?

Signing 50 contracts in the first 2 months of go-live. This proves we really do add value to the outsourcing partners and our Dutch clients. I’m very proud of the team here and abroad, who have been able to identify, validate and test the companies. The feedback we receive from our Dutch clients is also nothing but positive!

What’s your best advice for other tech entrepreneurs who are starting a business?
Think, Validate, Hussle and Ask! I believe there are enough people out there willing to help startups with the knowledge and experience they have. My 3 favorite books cover all this: Zero to One, the Lean Startup and Start with Why. There are great books any entrepreneur should read.

One more thing on the Ask part: I spend a certain amount of my time coaching startups from the University of Amsterdam & other startup initiatives. Surrounding yourself with other talented and driven entrepreneurs will give you a lot of insight and clever solutions they already found!
