Interview with artist Sontonya aka Sunny

My children have always inspired me to work hard and to show them that regardless of life’s circumstances, get up and keep pushing forward.

Tell us about yourself and what you do
I’m a passionate artist. My work is featured here. I love abstract and mixed media art and have an obsession with faces and the human body which is usually the focus of my pieces. I’m an emotional painter that leaves it all on the canvas.

I’m also a soon to be published author. I am a mother and wife and lover of Christ.

Who has inspired you in your life and why?
My children have always inspired me to work hard and to show them that regardless of life’s circumstances, get up and keep pushing forward. One of my favorite artists is Alfred Conteh whom I recently discovered. As far as my motivation, I love Oprah Winfrey and dream of sitting in her studio or on her show discussing my book.

Who has inspired you in your life and why?
My greatest achievements are my children. I’m a very proud mom. Additionally, my soon to be published book, called Iridescent, is about my son who passed away in September of 2018.
