Interview with artist Scott Davis

Recently I had a great interview with artist Scott Davis from Montreal. He is attending the upcoming RAW Montreal REFLECT showcase Feb 26th /27th. Read the interview to find out more event details are here:

Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do
Born and raised in Montreal West Island, to a Moroccan mother and Austrian Russian father. I always had a love for the arts eg: drawing, painting & music.I decided to turn that into a living and became a technical draftsman. Art allows me to break the rules and color out of the lines, engineering and drafting has it’s set structure; Order in my chaos. Presently I work as a graphic designer.  This will be my first art show.

Who has inspired you in your life and why?
The most inspiring people to me will always be my parent’s. Love is defined by what we see, sacrifices, dedication, loyalty, by no means perfect but very real. I have a lot of love in my heart because of them. I have given most of my heart to passed loves as well

Good or bad it’s the inspiration I can never erase.

What is your greatest achievement so far?
Guess my best achievement is the ability to get philosophical on any issue 🙂 my definition of successes and achievements changes as I achieve and succeed them ;). I believe that family is the ultimate achievement.

Do you have any tips for our readers that are trying to break in the industry?
I would say do it because you love it not to please others, but enjoy the moments of bringing the art to life. If someone notices, gravy! But I know me and I’ve had my fun already in the creation of my work. When you do things from the heart people really dig it.

What do you have planned for the upcoming RAW Montreal MAGNIFY showcase Feb 26th /27th
Most of my earlier works are very large 10’x5′, so when RAW asked me back in November to attend their showcase this February. I naturally got to work creating smaller pieces to attend their show. I will be displaying many different types of painting as I am self-taught and love listening to the vibrations of paint as it flows. Trying new things.
