My mom and grandmother have been supportive with the choices I’ve made, they’ve also taught me a lot about faith, respect and to never give up.

sheylla2How and when did you first get into performing?
I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, I started acting when I was five years old when my mom took me to an agency for young actors, right after I started performing in commercials, soap operas, TV series in addition to my modeling work.  I was 11 when I had my first experience on stage, it was so great, that I remember saying to my mom that I wouldn’t leave the stages after that. When I was a preteen, I began serious study of theater and went to university to study Arts Performing. I graduated with a Fine Arts degree in Drama from in 2010. In December of the same year, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my career in acting.

Who where some of your biggest inspirations growing up?
Definitely my mom and my grandmother. They have been so supportive with the choices I’ve made they’ve also taught me a lot about faith, respect and to never give up. I grew up in a blessed family.

What has been your favorite role to play so far?
It’s so hard to pick just one, I’ve been part of so many great projects it would be unfair to pick just one since all characters brought something in my life. But I could say that Marat/Sade from Peter Weiss was huge experience, I could call a “play within a play”. The story happens after the French Revolution with the assassination of Jean-Paul Marat, all the actors are the inmates of the psychiatric hospital, the preparation was intense and I had Andre Latorre as an excellent director who knew how to lead the cast.

What projects do you have coming up?
I have this Storytelling project for Kids, it’s still in pre-production but it’s coming up next year. I’m very excited about it, I used to work as a storyteller in Brasil and this is a thing that I really miss. Make it real in here will be a dream coming true!

Who would be your ideal co-star and why?
Omg, there are so many great people out there that I could share and learn from, what about instead of choosing a co-star I pick some directors I would like to work with? Guillermo Del Toro, Pedro Almodovar, Tim Burton,Steven Spielberg,Fernando Meirelles  … my list is long!!! Who knows right? My sign is Pisces, I’m a dreamer!

What are your plans for the future?
Talking about my acting career, I plan to keep working on my English and my accent to become and feel more confident. It’s already a challenge acting in your native language imagine in a new one!!!!
