When you’re working on one project, have your next one lined up. Don’t get lazy.
I had the privilege to interview actress and assistant director Mary Angela Munez. Read the interview to find out more about her work for Transformers 4, Jupiter Ascending, Cannes film festival and her daughter Natalie.
Tell us about yourself and what you do
Hi my name is Mary Angela Munez. I work in film and television both as an actress and in production. I’m a single mother of a 7 year old girl, named Natalie. I have been blessed to work on such films as Jupiter Ascending (in theatres TODAY), Tranformers 4, Orange is the New Black, Shameless, and more.
Working as a single mom is already challenging. But working in the entertainment industry makes it 50 times harder. Set days are long and you’ll often have to travel for work. I just came back from Sundance Film Festival and to Cannes in the spring. Thankfully there’s lots of work in Chicago.
What is your greatest achievement so far?
My greatest achievement? Being the cool parent with the cool job that can take her kid to set. I’ve lost jobs cuz of my mom sched. It’s hard. Inspiration: my kid. She brags about me. I can’t let her down now!
Do you have any tips for our readers that are trying to break in the industry?
My tips: never give stop. When you’re working on one project, have your next one lined up. Don’t get lazy. Don’t apologize for being a parent. Grow a thick skin. And don’t date coworkers! Itll be awkward. Get your kids excited with you. Please LIKE my page!!! https://www.facebook.com/marygonelucky
