Matthew C Martino is a Film Producer and Author based in London,UK. At the age of 21 he has set himself up as the one to watch on the entertainment scene. We held an interview with Matthew to talk films, his books as well as his business ventures oh and his flying (Did we forget to say that he’s a pilot)
Q: Matthew, you’re clearly very versatile, Tell us about yourself and what you do
I’m currently being a jack of all trades but yes I’m a film producer by day and I’ve been known to do some writing at night. I wrote my pilots manual Lets Fly back in 2012 and very happy that is helping many aspiring pilots worldwide and I’ve also written my business advice book Go For It, I hope that’s also empowering a lot of youngsters.
Q: Who has inspired you in your life and why?
My dad has been my biggest inspiration, he came from nothing and built himself up in Zimbabwe and relocating me and the rest of the family to the U.K and he also holds a PHD and he demands I call him ‘Dr’ it’s just recognition for all the success he has enjoyed throughout his career.
Q: What is your greatest achievement so far?
Being able to publish Lets Fly was like my biggest achievement as it took me months to write it and a publisher initially rejected the manuscript so when it finally got published I was really excited.
Q: Tell us about your film life, Will you return to acting ?
I love being part of the film industry its very entertaining and it can be quite rewarding at times, needless to say I still pay for my coffees. I don’t plan on returning to acting, I just lost the buzz that I had back in my teen years. I now actually prefer producing films and making it happen.
Q: Your business lifestyle is back on track as well as Lets Fly Academy what else is cooking ?
Yes Lets Fly Academy is back on track and I can’t wait to launch the retail arm which will provide books and equipment to trainee pilots. I can’t spill too much about my other ventures or future plans but I do hope I will be able to make my mark and inspire other young people to become a success.
Q: Do you have any tips for our readers that are trying to break in the industry or achieve success ?
My no.1 advice as usual is ‘Allow no room for deadwood’ work harder than others are. Always give it 110% and you will make it. The film industry in particular is filled with a lot talent and to make it you have to stand out, you have to do what others aren’t doing.
