Interview: GardenInMinutes.com

If you want to go green and be eco-friendly, there are many ways you can go about doing so. You can plant a tree, ride your bike to work, and recycle. But is there a way you can have your cake and ‘eat it’ too? The answer is YES, it’s called gardening, and it has been around for a long time. However, Bryan at GardenInMinutes.com reached out to me to share his company’s modern, user driven approach on this age old past time! You can’t grow cake in these new raised gardens (unfortunately), but you can certainly grow some delicious healthy vegetables and now easier than ever, do your part to help make our world a more eco-friendly and green place!

Tell me about your business
We’re GardenInMinutes.com, a family run company that designs modern and simple raised garden beds. We got started about a year and a half ago with the goal of making home gardening easier and all around more convenient. We are the inventors of The Garden Gridwatering system and makers of modular, ‘re-shapable’ raised garden beds.

Gardening has been around for a long time, what’s so modern about what you do?
For the longest time gardening has been a very arduous process. Digging up the ground, cutting boards for raised beds, spending hours building watering systems etc. We feel we’ve solved that time crunch! Everything we make requires no tools at all. All of our raised garden beds are expandable to different shapes and sizes and don’t require any tools. We also invented an irrigation system called the Garden Gridwhich partitions your garden into planting sections and waters all of your plants evenly at their base. So basically you can have a complete, self-watering raised garden, with even planting sections after only a few minutes of assembly. That’s how we came up with the name Garden In Minutes! The future of going green is all about efficiency!

What motivated you to start an eco-friendly business and go green?
We are big believers in eating organic. It’s healthy for the environment and healthier for you! The problem we noticed with eating organic was the cost and availability. Organic produce is fairly expensive and must be eaten in a few days or it’ll go bad. So to save money and live a healthier lifestyle, we started growing our own organic food in raised garden beds. The raised gardens cost money upfront, but we haven’t had to pay for organic produce since! We grew so much when we first made the switch to growing our own vegetables that we had to give some away to our friends. They loved our raised garden designs and Garden Grids so much they convinced us to start our company!

What green issues are you most passionate about?
Sustainability. With an ever growing population of people, we feel that agricultural sustainability is a great cause to be a part of. By focusing on this, we set ourselves and our children up for a healthy environment and healthy food options. With our Raised Garden Kits, anyone can easily start growing their own vegetables no matter where they live. We have garden kits at schools, city apartment roofs, church lawns and houses all over the country. No matter where you live you can “green up” your life by gardening!

4x8_kit_gridsWhat do you think the next steps of the green revolution are?
Efficiency and involvement! We have all the tools for a green world. Renewable energy, renewable resources, green city designs etc. But it’s still getting up and running. The more of us that get involved and take steps forward to become more green, the more the green movement will spread and inspire new and exciting innovations!

We can all help reduce pollution, create healthy lifestyles, and improve our environment one step at a time. We’re excited to be a part of that movement and raised bed gardening is a simple and fun step forward toward making a healthier and greener world!
