How To Look Good During Wedding Season

wedding

Valentine’s Day is still pretty recent in our memories, so presumably we all remember the proposals that popped up all over Facebook about our nearest and dearest getting engaged. Of course, it was all pretty delightful to see – until we remember how many weddings we’re going to have to go to over the next couple of years. Weddings seem fantastic on the surface – they’re a chance to catch up with people that we don’t get to see that often, plus there’s free food and alcohol, so what can go wrong? But the truth is that there’s a lot more that goes into wedding season than you might think. Luckily, we’re here to help.

Pick Your Dress Early

If you aren’t really used to formal dress – and who of us really is? – then weddings can be a little stressful. Not only do we have to start looking for dresses but we also have to consider what to wear alongside the dress – what if it rains? What if we can’t walk in our heels? What if it’s surprisingly cold for that time of year? It’s hard to know what exactly to do. The most important tip is to make sure that you get shopping early. Check out the after Christmas sales for formal dresses, and look online for dresses that you can buy, try on in the safety of your own home, and send back if they don’t fit you. Wear a smart blazer over the top of it, and make sure that you’ve worn in your heels so you can dance and party in style and comfort all night long.

Pamper Yourself

If you’re going to a wedding, then guess what? The bride isn’t the only person who deserves a little luxury beforehand. If you haven’t been to many weddings before then you might be a little nervous, and it helps to know that you look as good as possible. Get your hair cut a week before the wedding. Any longer away and the style might start growing out, and any closer and you might not have figured out how to do your new hair by the time the wedding rolls around. Get your nails and toenails manicured and pedicured, and top the day off by going for a massage. Treat yourself – you’ll feel far more relaxed and happy.

Go To The Bachelorette Party

If you’re invited to the bachelorette party, it’s important that you should go if you possibly can. Not only will it mean a lot to the bride, but it will also mean that you’ll get to meet some of the other guests beforehand, which in turn means that you won’t have to be nervous about going to the wedding and not knowing anyone else who’s there. Make sure that you’re sociable and light-hearted with them, and most importantly, don’t drink too much! Of course people tend to have a few glasses of wine at a bachelorette party, but you don’t want to be that person that others have to look after. Keep it elegant and civilised.

Get Prepared

One way to stop being nervous before going to a wedding is to make sure that you know exactly where you’re going. Book a hotel to stay in the night before and the night after the wedding, so you have plenty of time to get ready beforehand and you don’t have to worry about getting all the way home the night afterwards. Make sure that you know how to get to the venue – the owner of the hotel should be able to help you book a cab, which means that you won’t have to rely on anyone else for rides.

Practice Your Hair And Makeup

If you’re not very confident about doing your hair and makeup, then make sure you practice it a couple of weeks before the wedding. If you have oily skin, use a primer and setting spray to lock the makeup onto your face, and take blotting papers along with you to mop up any excess shine. Remember that you’ll be dancing all evening, so don’t go for a hairstyle that’s too delicate or fragile – if it hasn’t held up after a long day at work, then it won’t hold up all day at the wedding either! Slip your lipstick, powder and blotting papers into your bag so that you can touch up during the day in the bathrooms, and add a mini deodorant and perfume sample in there as well so you can stay fresh and fragrant.
