Gaffer & Child challenges people to “give a damn”. We focused on men because more often than not they don’t care about their skin, and don’t spend time on personal care.

How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The word ‘gaffer’ comes from cockney east London speak. A ‘gaffer’ is a boss, a leader, a coach. I created Gaffer & Child for the modern day gentleman ­ all our products are organic, designed in Los Angeles and made by men for men.

What is your mission?
Gaffer & Child challenges people to “give a damn”. We focused on men because more often than not they don’t care about their skin, and don’t spend time on personal care. We’re here to set the new standard in personal care and bring out the ‘classic man’ in all men.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?
Creating a product and building a business that is independent and locally­ owned. Our resources are used to make purchases from other local businesses, service providers, and farms, continuing to strengthen the economic base of the community. We’re proud that what we’re creating is part of the ethical consumption movement and kind to the environment. Essentially it’s for the man who knows he votes with his dollar, and conscious consumerism is a way to support your values every time you walk into a store.

Where can our readers find you online?
All our products are available on our website, gafferandchild.com. That is what we find to be essential in your self­care routine (hair dressing, face wash, shaving cream, moisturizer, exfoliating scrub). It takes us months to develop each product, because we simply won’t release an item unless we’d use it ourselves. Each piece that we’ve created I can say is my personal favorite.
