Easy Maintenance Tips for Walk-In Showers

Homemakers must realise that they need to keep their bathrooms as sanitary as possible. The same thing is true for a walk-in shower. You will have to clean it regularly or hire someone to do it for you if you don’t want to get yourself dirty. We’re sure you wouldn’t want to use the facility if it reeks and has a lot of mould and grime.

Here are a few maintenance tips that you can do to keep your walk-in showers in the best possible condition. Read on, and find out how you can achieve a sparklingly clean shower without breaking into too much of a sweat.

Secure your choice of cleaners

One of the first things you need to do is secure the right type of cleaning materials for your space. Some people prefer commercial-grade chlorine-based bleach, some like using muriatic acid solutions (if you’re one of those, you know to leave the room while it does its job), some like using sprays, others use a commercial-strength gel. Use the right cleaning solution to ensure that they stay clean and as clear as possible for your partitions. Whatever chemical you prefer to clean the surfaces with, make sure that you have it handy and in the correct quantity. You wouldn’t want to run out in the middle of the cleaning process and run out looking dishevelled.

Don’t forget to have your scrubbing pads or sponges, heavy-duty gloves, and bristle brushes ready, too. They’ll be a huge help in keeping your shower clean.

Apply the cleaning solutions at the right conditions

Several people say they would only clean their showers if they’re actually in it and taking a bath – sort of hitting two-birds-in-one-shot kind of deal. If you’re one of them, good for you. However, if you tackle the chore on your own, you’ll have to make sure to prepare all surfaces first for the cleaning process. Hose it down with water and then apply the preferred cleaning solution. Wait a few minutes for the solution to work, and then get to scrubbing. Make sure that you reach every inch and clean the nooks and crannies.

Once you’re satisfied that you’ve got every inch cleaned, you can now hose everything down once more. Take a look at the results, and if you’re not yet satisfied, then it’s time for a second dousing. Pay particular attention to the grout to remove the mould and grime. Buff the tiles with the right cleaning solution and wipe them down completely. Do the same for the glass partitions.

Conduct regular maintenance

You don’t have to clean the shower from top to bottom daily. All you need to do is use a squeegee after taking a shower to direct the water splashes to the floor or use a towel to dry the surfaces.

Final thoughts

Cleaning your walk-in showers may be quite a chore for some and enjoyable for others. But, no matter how you see the task, it’s an essential routine that you need to perform regularly if you want to have a clean area to use.
