Great skin is about a number of things and one of the most important is what you’re putting in your body. So, here are some foods that promote clearer, healthier skin.

Lemon

Lemon is among the best ingredients that can be used for promoting clear skin.  Lemon contains citric acid in it, which helps to keep your skin clear through removing dead cells.  The vitamin C content in lemon helps with reducing dark spots through increasing the process of cell renewal.  Lemon has bleaching properties as well, which help with improving your skin complexion overall.

Fresh-squeezed lemon juice can be applied to your neck and face.  Leave on your skin for 10 minutes before using lukewarm water to wash it off.  After that, cucumber slices can be rubbed on your skin in order to moisturize and soften it.  This can be done every other day or daily.

You can also squeeze juice from half of a lemon mixed with one or two tablespoons of raw honey.  Apply this to your face.  It can be left on 15-20 minutes before rinsing it off.

Your skin can be exfoliated by mixing two teaspoons of sugar and two teaspoons of lemon juice.  The mixture should be applied on your hands, neck and face.  Scrub using a circular motion.  Then leave it on your skin for 10 minutes before using lukewarm water to rinse it off.  For glowing skin, this remedy should be followed once per week. Here are some more benefits of lemons too.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a skin lightening agent and excellent antiseptic that helps with minimizing scars and other types of marks.  In addition, turmeric can alleviate infection, inflammatory and allergic skin disorders that can make your skin appear lifeless and dull. Here are some of its benefits.

Evenly apply this on your skin.  Leave on until it dries.  Then use lukewarm water to wash it off.  Gently scrub your skin using a circular motion.  This remedy can be followed once per week in order to remove scars and make your skin tone lighter.

It’s worth remembering that the best acne treatment aren’t the obvious ones. Sure, avoiding sugar and washing your face have their place but there is more to it than this.
